type or Skype?

With so many things developing in the Social Media world we tend forget that people used to communicate with each other. Call friends and just chat, write letters to family who live far away. in other words take time to communicate with those who are near and dear.

But then this thing called Social Media came along, and kind of destroyed all hopes of that. facebook, twitter, texting, instagram and etc. now we only communicate via social media. I couldnt tell you the last time I sat down to write a letter to a friend across the world, or even picked up the phone to have a good conversation. We are indeed starting to loose sight of things.

With all of this technological advancement some good things have developed! amazing right!?! one of which, is Skype! Skype is good, Skype is great! so what is Skype? Skype is a Distant communication platform, which means you can communicate with people from a long distance! makes sense right??

Skype allows people to do phone calls, but with video features, so you can look the people right in the eyes and talk to them! its a great development that has helped people to contunue to communicate in a normal way. face to face, voice to voice and really get to see the expressions people have on their faces, really be able to SEE the happiness in someones voice!
Im all for distance  communication platforms and collaboration platforms.

  1. What you said about actually taking time to hand-write letters is so true. I really don't remember the last time I hand wrote a letter. I wouldn't even know what side of the envelope to put the stamp on. I always communicate with Facebook or Twitter. Email is about as old school as I go.

  2. I completely agree with the fact that people these days do not participate in face to face or meaningful interaction as much as they used to. Things are moving farther and farther away in this aspect. Where it may be more convenient in some cases to rely on these more simple methods of communication, it can be detrimental to or interaction with people in general. As a communications major I see how this could be a bad thing. With communication moving in this direction it can really have a harmful effect on people's relationships. I think when used in conjunction with good face to face communication skills, instead of in place of them, it can be very beneficial. But, it really takes a good balance of both.

  3. I agree with the points you bring up. I also love that Skype is an inexpensive option for someone wanting to talk with someone internationally.
