With all the advancements in the world today smart phones are taking over everything. If you want to do some thing, just pull it up on your phone. games, entertainment, education, and many more themed apps that are fun and amazing.
What I plan on doing is sharing with you my 2 favorite apps, and showing you why they are so great.
#2 app.
America First Banking app
I Love this App! This app makes everything so much easier, i used to have to everything online on my computer. well not anymore! I can check my checking and savings account, transfer money between my personal accounts and other america first users, and the best part is, I can deposit checks right from my phone! thats right, i simple snap a picture of the front and back of my check, select where i want it to be deposited and bam! the money is my account! I now never have to go to the bank to deposit a check! its simple amazing!
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/america-first-credit-union/id450324535?mt=8
#1 app.
I am T-Pain
This is an entertainment app, which i personally love and have lots of fun with friends all at the same time! This app allows users to feel like the music artist T-Pain who is famous for his music with Auto-tune. what it does is it plays the beat to a song and shows you the lyrics, it then lets you sing into the microphone of the phone and your voice is changed! its fun and everyone seems to love it!

Viral videos!
If there is one thing that I love wasting time on, it's YouTube videos! And the reason is probably because those YouTube videos that are big and popular hits just seem to always put me in a good mood! It's typically because all the viral (popular) videos are funny videos! An I love to laugh. But there is sooo much power behind having a video that becomes viral. Just ask Justin Beiber himself!
When Justin was just a little guy he loved music and would post videos of him singing song and playing instruments and a man in Atlanta saw how popular his videos were getting and he said this kid has potential. So he flew Justin and his mother to Atlanta, met with the producer and Usher (singer/songwriter) and the kid got a record label! Now he is making millions of dollars!!!
I'm hoping to make it big someday! Maybe a viral video will be my gateway!
This is one of the videos that launched Justin's Carrer!

URL shorteners. And etc.
Ever been on twitter and someone you are following tweets and then they have a link below that says Bit.ly and then some weird random letters follow bit.ly?? Ever wonder what that is? Well I did, in fact I was a little bit afraid to click on the link because I thought the person I followed had been hacked, and I didn't want to click the link for fear of getting hacked!
But actually this little guy, but.ly is now my new best friend! Bitly.com is what's considered a URL shortener. So say you want to copy a link to your twitter from an amazing story on espn.com but the URL in itself is so long that it doesn't allow you to express your opinion about that article. Sooooo that's why we have bitly.comat this website you paste a long URL in the box and then bam! Your long link has been shortened to a small bit.ly link easy to copy and paste! Wonderful, wonderful, just wonderful!!!
And just to wrap things up, I learned that. URL shorteners are not just to make things convenient for things such as twitter. But it also is used to beautify a link. And I found that interesting cause it's true. Some links are sooo nasty long and full of equal, and, exclamation, at, and other random signs that just clump things up! This I feel is a great thing! Do people do me a favor and use URL shorteners!

Businesses and social media.
Recently I have been interested in businesses and musicians and how they interact with their fan base. Back in the day they used to travel to people's house and surprise then with gifts or just the greatness of the appearance of famous music artist.
But nowadays you do see that too often... When was the last time you saw Macklemore or Mumford and sons go and knock on somebody's and says what's up? Probably never. So I started looking into how they interact with their fan base, and I've noticed that they do it through social media! And this is how I found that out.
One day I was on twitter and one of my favorite artists (Hoodie Allen) was tweeting about how he just released new tour dates but I didn't see anywhere that he was coming to utah.. So I tweeted at him, and I asked him when he was coming to utah! He later tweeted back at me with the link to SLC tickets and a few words to get me stoked for the concert! I was so pumped that I had just got a tweet from hoodie Allen! I told everyone about it, and even told it to people who didn't even know who he was. An I noticed that those people who didn't know him, began listening to his music and started to like his stuff. Through social media Hoodie Allen was able to expand his fan base simply through a small tweet to @sicnarf1232.
To wrap things up, my sister in law last week asked me to help set up the following social media accounts: Facebook,Pinterest, etsy, twitter, and eBay. For her new small business Mayah Bella Bows. Which is a small business that she runs from her basement, where she makes Bows for littles girls hair. They are really quick amazing bows that she makes and they are giant so it over takes the baby's head! It's essential for her to get her product out there and available online for people to see what she is doing! So keep your eye out for that new business and buy some bows for your kids!

getting Hacked - Internet Ethics
Every once in a while i tend to get a private message in my twitter account from a friend that is close to me, but as i read the message i then realize its not my friend talking because it just doesnt sound like them. For example the message i received from one of my good friends said the following "have you seen these pictures of you, sooo embarrassing." it then had a link to follow. Luckily i knew it was a trap for some time of privacy violation.
a lot of times it seems to me that people are just a little careless with their platforms and allow them to easily get hacked. I cant tell you the number of times i have borrowed a friends computer to check my Facebook, and i go to facebook.com and its already logged into my friends account. So like any good friend would do, I post something really embarrassing as their status and then i log out. haha, you gotta have some fun and in the end teach your friend a lesson!
As I was looking into this online, i found on mashable how to keep your twitter account safe and free from getting hacked. and the number one thing that showed up, of course the most annoying... having a long and strong password! nobody likes using a long password it takes to long to type in, a 4 digit pin would be so much preferable especially this one 1234. check out the link below, its quite easy as to how to protect your twitter!

Applebee's bout to get cray!
Applebee's huh? Pretty classy... Well for those of you who haven't heard about what went down its actually pretty interesting. So a party came into Applebee's to eat some grub, and because it was a large party, automatic gratuity was added to the bill. Standard 18 percent. In return the buyer paid the money and on top of the receipt wrote "I give God 10% why do you get 18?" The waitress took a picture and posted it on the website reddit.com..... Bad idea.
Because reddit.com is such a huge social media platform that if something interesting is posted, it easily becomes viral. Well this story became viral! All the way until the point where I am writing a blog about it. So why is this such a big story? Well let me tell you.
Turns out, the waitress who posted that picture of the receipt on reddit was eventually fired for doing so because she violated the customer privacy policy, and social media policy of Applebee's. this too me blew my mind!!!! Yes it was wrong gor her to post this online. But it DID NOT violate the privacy of the customer because if you look at the picture of tr receipt, it has no information of the man who wrote the crude comment. Social media is a helpful thing in our world, but some people use it for the wrong purposes and other really are getting hurt.

type or Skype?
With so many things developing in the Social Media world we tend forget that people used to communicate with each other. Call friends and just chat, write letters to family who live far away. in other words take time to communicate with those who are near and dear.
But then this thing called Social Media came along, and kind of destroyed all hopes of that. facebook, twitter, texting, instagram and etc. now we only communicate via social media. I couldnt tell you the last time I sat down to write a letter to a friend across the world, or even picked up the phone to have a good conversation. We are indeed starting to loose sight of things.
With all of this technological advancement some good things have developed! amazing right!?! one of which, is Skype! Skype is good, Skype is great! so what is Skype? Skype is a Distant communication platform, which means you can communicate with people from a long distance! makes sense right??
Skype allows people to do phone calls, but with video features, so you can look the people right in the eyes and talk to them! its a great development that has helped people to contunue to communicate in a normal way. face to face, voice to voice and really get to see the expressions people have on their faces, really be able to SEE the happiness in someones voice!
Im all for distance communication platforms and collaboration platforms.

Location Platforms
For some reason, when I think of location platforms I want to sing the children's song "Old McDonald had a Farm" and maybe once i explain you'll see why...
So if you remember from my last blog, I talked about platforms, what they are, why you should get one, what they do, and why people have them. So how many of those platforms are Location based platforms? when I first heard about a location platform, I didn't really know what to think... I was thinking something along the lines that its an app that can locate certain items or people... not so.
Ever heard of people "checking in" on facebook? when people say, "OMG, just got to the movie theatre with my family can't wait to watch this new flick - Megaplex Theatre, Logan UT" that little blue part that is italicized are people "checking in" using a Location based Platfrom. some more examples of Location based platforms consist of Twitter, Instagram, Foursquare, and Yelp. These I find are the most commonly used Location based platforms.
TomTom is the big brains behind this idea, TomTom has what is called a Location Based Service (LBS) they are the ones who make it possible for social media companies such as facebook to be able to use a the Location feature. if a social media platform has the ability to "check in" or let people where you currently are, you should assume that, that feature is being done by TomTom
I found all of this quite interesting, mostly because I could care less why someone would tell me where there are at an exact point... What do you want me to do? come and meet you there and take a picture with you? No. I personally think its dumb, and really unsafe, but a lot of people find it fun and interesting... What ever floats your boat.. now back to "Old McDonald" the lyrics if i remember correctly say, "... Here a Quack, there a Quack, everywhere a quack quack".... Now my version... "Here I am, there I am, everywhere I am, am!"
Now you see why I want to sing that song?

Platforms
Sorry ladies... i'm not talking about the cute high heel platforms you wear on a formal date, rather the Platforms of social media. So just to name a few of these platforms so you can have an idea... Facebook, Twitter, flickr, youtube, Instagram, linkden, google+ and many many more!
which of these is my favorite?? Well 2 years ago it used to be Facebook, it dominated the social media world! Now... well its a 3 way tie, but if I had to put them in order it would be the following.
Twitter
Instagram
Facebook
so why this order? Twitter and Instagram are like a mix of Facebook, but I have noticed people are now using Twitter to post there thoughts and ideas and funny quotes and etc now instead of Facebook. People also have been posting pictures on Instagram rather than Facebook. What I personally have noticed I can check my twitter, and instagram then go check my facebook and I tend to find the same information and pictures. so that is my reasoning for the minimal use of FB.
Dont get me wrong facebook is still great, its perfect for being able to communicate with others! something that can be really annoying if done on twitter or even instagram. I love being able to use new kinds of social media and explore what is out there and of how things can be a benefit to us in some where! so go out explore and get familiar with the social media world!

AARON SWARTZ.. A NAME TO REMEMBER
As I was beginning to do research on Reddit and
RSS I stumbled upon the news articles that Aaron Swartz, took his life just
recently. News posts say that he was fighting the U.S. Government in some
cyberwars and that he most likely commited suicide for fear of losing. What
Aaron Swartz did for the Social Media world goes unrecognized but in all
reality… Changed it forever! R.I.P. Aaron.
Aaron Swartz was the Genius behind Reddit and
later merged to create RSS. These two Companies were revolutionary in the
social media world. you are probably asking yourself: “what is this so called
Reddit and RSS business??” Reddit is a website that users can post on the page
a link or a URL and other users may vote for that link or URL to go “up” or
“Down” on the homepage. it is mostly used for current news and modern events.
It gives users freedom to read stuff that they enjoy. As for RSS, this may
sound more familiar. RSS changed the social media world in the aspect of
”automatic updates”. For example if you look at the bottom of this blog
post you will see a small icon in the bottom right hand corner that says RSS,
click on that, enter your email address and you have now signed up to recieve
every single blog I will ever post!
Now you are saying ohhhhh! I have that same
thing on Youtube.com, I am subscribed to users and every time they post a new
video, i receive a notification that, that user has posted a new video! all
that amazingness, you can give thanks to Aaron Swartz.
What this man has provided for the internet,
and for the social media world is amazing! there are many things that he did to
improve the internet, but as a blogger, I dont want to tell you everything he
did! Go out, research it, and share it with the world. who knows maybe someone
will click that little RSS button at the bottom of your blog and you could
become a famous Blogger!

DONT BE SUCH A BALL "BLOG"
well if you didn’t get the joke in my title… I will take the assumption that you didn’t play many sports a child. But thats okay i’m sure we will still be friends without ever knowing it!
Now what do you think I mean by don’t be such a “ball blog”? well on the street of a play ground we used to play basketball at every single recess, and every single time there was that one kid who would alway “HOG” the ball to himself, never pass it and just shoot it himself, EVERY TIME! So as I was looking into the benefits of blogging and such I have come across the fact that many many bloggers tend to only talk about themselves and nobody else around them! allow me to elaborate!
Over my time of browsing the web and lookin for helpful idea I tend to come across a blog or two with some fascinating and creative things! But many of which times I stumble upon bloggers who are just downright selfish! look at my new shoe, look at my new puppy, look at how cool my new hair is.. which are not all bad things… unless its all you talk about.
Blogging can be used in such beneficial ways it is amazing! just think about it. You have a really good friend and they decide to write just a short blog that mentions how great of a person you are. Its an instant uplifter, not only because your friend said such nice things about you but they literally said that nice thing about you on the World Wide Web! That is as close as we come these days to the romantic films of people “yelling from a roof top so the whole world can hear it” we can virtually stand on a mountain of social media and tell everyone how great others are!
Share the ball every once in a while and you will have a happy playground.
