Ever been on twitter and someone you are following tweets and then they have a link below that says Bit.ly and then some weird random letters follow bit.ly?? Ever wonder what that is? Well I did, in fact I was a little bit afraid to click on the link because I thought the person I followed had been hacked, and I didn't want to click the link for fear of getting hacked!
But actually this little guy, but.ly is now my new best friend! Bitly.com is what's considered a URL shortener. So say you want to copy a link to your twitter from an amazing story on espn.com but the URL in itself is so long that it doesn't allow you to express your opinion about that article. Sooooo that's why we have bitly.comat this website you paste a long URL in the box and then bam! Your long link has been shortened to a small bit.ly link easy to copy and paste! Wonderful, wonderful, just wonderful!!!
And just to wrap things up, I learned that. URL shorteners are not just to make things convenient for things such as twitter. But it also is used to beautify a link. And I found that interesting cause it's true. Some links are sooo nasty long and full of equal, and, exclamation, at, and other random signs that just clump things up! This I feel is a great thing! Do people do me a favor and use URL shorteners!

Businesses and social media.
Recently I have been interested in businesses and musicians and how they interact with their fan base. Back in the day they used to travel to people's house and surprise then with gifts or just the greatness of the appearance of famous music artist.
But nowadays you do see that too often... When was the last time you saw Macklemore or Mumford and sons go and knock on somebody's and says what's up? Probably never. So I started looking into how they interact with their fan base, and I've noticed that they do it through social media! And this is how I found that out.
One day I was on twitter and one of my favorite artists (Hoodie Allen) was tweeting about how he just released new tour dates but I didn't see anywhere that he was coming to utah.. So I tweeted at him, and I asked him when he was coming to utah! He later tweeted back at me with the link to SLC tickets and a few words to get me stoked for the concert! I was so pumped that I had just got a tweet from hoodie Allen! I told everyone about it, and even told it to people who didn't even know who he was. An I noticed that those people who didn't know him, began listening to his music and started to like his stuff. Through social media Hoodie Allen was able to expand his fan base simply through a small tweet to @sicnarf1232.
To wrap things up, my sister in law last week asked me to help set up the following social media accounts: Facebook,Pinterest, etsy, twitter, and eBay. For her new small business Mayah Bella Bows. Which is a small business that she runs from her basement, where she makes Bows for littles girls hair. They are really quick amazing bows that she makes and they are giant so it over takes the baby's head! It's essential for her to get her product out there and available online for people to see what she is doing! So keep your eye out for that new business and buy some bows for your kids!
