Every once in a while i tend to get a private message in my twitter account from a friend that is close to me, but as i read the message i then realize its not my friend talking because it just doesnt sound like them. For example the message i received from one of my good friends said the following "have you seen these pictures of you, sooo embarrassing." it then had a link to follow. Luckily i knew it was a trap for some time of privacy violation.
a lot of times it seems to me that people are just a little careless with their platforms and allow them to easily get hacked. I cant tell you the number of times i have borrowed a friends computer to check my Facebook, and i go to facebook.com and its already logged into my friends account. So like any good friend would do, I post something really embarrassing as their status and then i log out. haha, you gotta have some fun and in the end teach your friend a lesson!
As I was looking into this online, i found on mashable how to keep your twitter account safe and free from getting hacked. and the number one thing that showed up, of course the most annoying... having a long and strong password! nobody likes using a long password it takes to long to type in, a 4 digit pin would be so much preferable especially this one 1234. check out the link below, its quite easy as to how to protect your twitter!

Applebee's bout to get cray!
Applebee's huh? Pretty classy... Well for those of you who haven't heard about what went down its actually pretty interesting. So a party came into Applebee's to eat some grub, and because it was a large party, automatic gratuity was added to the bill. Standard 18 percent. In return the buyer paid the money and on top of the receipt wrote "I give God 10% why do you get 18?" The waitress took a picture and posted it on the website reddit.com..... Bad idea.
Because reddit.com is such a huge social media platform that if something interesting is posted, it easily becomes viral. Well this story became viral! All the way until the point where I am writing a blog about it. So why is this such a big story? Well let me tell you.
Turns out, the waitress who posted that picture of the receipt on reddit was eventually fired for doing so because she violated the customer privacy policy, and social media policy of Applebee's. this too me blew my mind!!!! Yes it was wrong gor her to post this online. But it DID NOT violate the privacy of the customer because if you look at the picture of tr receipt, it has no information of the man who wrote the crude comment. Social media is a helpful thing in our world, but some people use it for the wrong purposes and other really are getting hurt.

type or Skype?
With so many things developing in the Social Media world we tend forget that people used to communicate with each other. Call friends and just chat, write letters to family who live far away. in other words take time to communicate with those who are near and dear.
But then this thing called Social Media came along, and kind of destroyed all hopes of that. facebook, twitter, texting, instagram and etc. now we only communicate via social media. I couldnt tell you the last time I sat down to write a letter to a friend across the world, or even picked up the phone to have a good conversation. We are indeed starting to loose sight of things.
With all of this technological advancement some good things have developed! amazing right!?! one of which, is Skype! Skype is good, Skype is great! so what is Skype? Skype is a Distant communication platform, which means you can communicate with people from a long distance! makes sense right??
Skype allows people to do phone calls, but with video features, so you can look the people right in the eyes and talk to them! its a great development that has helped people to contunue to communicate in a normal way. face to face, voice to voice and really get to see the expressions people have on their faces, really be able to SEE the happiness in someones voice!
Im all for distance communication platforms and collaboration platforms.

Location Platforms
For some reason, when I think of location platforms I want to sing the children's song "Old McDonald had a Farm" and maybe once i explain you'll see why...
So if you remember from my last blog, I talked about platforms, what they are, why you should get one, what they do, and why people have them. So how many of those platforms are Location based platforms? when I first heard about a location platform, I didn't really know what to think... I was thinking something along the lines that its an app that can locate certain items or people... not so.
Ever heard of people "checking in" on facebook? when people say, "OMG, just got to the movie theatre with my family can't wait to watch this new flick - Megaplex Theatre, Logan UT" that little blue part that is italicized are people "checking in" using a Location based Platfrom. some more examples of Location based platforms consist of Twitter, Instagram, Foursquare, and Yelp. These I find are the most commonly used Location based platforms.
TomTom is the big brains behind this idea, TomTom has what is called a Location Based Service (LBS) they are the ones who make it possible for social media companies such as facebook to be able to use a the Location feature. if a social media platform has the ability to "check in" or let people where you currently are, you should assume that, that feature is being done by TomTom
I found all of this quite interesting, mostly because I could care less why someone would tell me where there are at an exact point... What do you want me to do? come and meet you there and take a picture with you? No. I personally think its dumb, and really unsafe, but a lot of people find it fun and interesting... What ever floats your boat.. now back to "Old McDonald" the lyrics if i remember correctly say, "... Here a Quack, there a Quack, everywhere a quack quack".... Now my version... "Here I am, there I am, everywhere I am, am!"
Now you see why I want to sing that song?
